I could tell this record was special before I even listened to it, the ornate profundity of the song titles, the incredible faux western movie cover-art, and the sXe kids in the record shop telling me to buy it ‘it’s incredible, awesome man’ also gave me a helping hint. Then from the first screams of _‘she spat like a wildcat’ to the shouts of ‘no one can catch you, it’s death on the streets’, I knew I was right to pick it up. The record works because of the incredible combo of vocal extremism, one partially distinguishable the other less so…
Music wise it’s all down-tuned, technical pieces on guitar, breaks, incredibly fast and angular drumming and accordant bass. Think the **Plot to Blow up the Eiffel Tower, Saetia, Burnman, Jr Ewing, made up of a crew of former St Albans Kids, Us Versus Them and Slackjaw, you decide.
This record is beyond belief, and I can’t wait to see what more comes out on Building Records.
