65daysofstatic. Another budding talent in the world of post-rock/synthy technical rawkness. Flourishing in the steel city, with a suitably industrial, minimalist sound that retains the power, emotion and energy of any “normal” rock music you care to mention.
Fast, reverberating drum beats purring urgently underneath iridescent layers of spacious, translucent sound. Combining the haunting echoes of Mike Oldfield’s 'Tubular Bells', with deeppoignant, heavy bass lines. This music is so detailed and involved on so many different levels, and yet howls with a kind of free, refreshing simplicity and honest beauty.
Some of the more conventional, catchy moments of ‘Thrash Waltz’ could easily lend to a vocal section, but are interesting enough not to need them. With such a strong sense of progression and empowerment, in these 17 minutes and 3 songs, 65daysofstatic - like some kind of dramatic movie soundtrack - mess with your senses, rise your blood pressure, climax with tension and then blow back a breeze of soothing tranquillity.
Breath taking music on the same level as, and eagerly following in the footsteps of our dearly beloved Oceansize. There can never been too much of this kind of music - I said so.
