First off respect is due for the recording quality of this cd. Assuming it to be a studio job it turns out the three tracks here were layed down on a basic 4 track. No longer shall I give the benefit of the doubt to people who can't be arsed to record their demos properly. The standard has been set.

Anyway, let's talk music. **The Long Pause** are a duo who both moved to London searching for creative enlightenment. Several years later they finally met after hitting the earth with a bump by way of the Dublin Castle and Ion Bar. What they have created is a subtle hybrid of trip-hop and space rock. At times they approach the might of Portishead, though fall a little short with the somewhat Babylon Zoo-esque synth effects on the first two tracks. Final track, 'Easterly', is more distinct. A lone piano accompanies a fragile female vocal before a rhythm guitars joins to create a dramatic ballad. It's not particularly original but it's very nice all the same.
