Neenor are melodic. They're also from Brighton (although to be fair they have moved from Yorkshire). But what path of melodica/post-acoustica do the band actually take? They are part of a local scene in which originality is so paramount that it creates sumblimity and ridiculousness in equal measure. The cover of this single, a tundra alpine landscape which apparently exudes an unexplained natural warmth, suggests, by looking at the many roads that lead to the peak of the mountain, that Neenor will go straight down the middle. They will race ahead eager to scale new heights.
The band seem blissfully unfazed of what is around them, although wide eyed in their awareness. For despite the cheeky chappy exterior, there is a lovely edge to these songs. 'The Good Old Days' is a nostalgia piece of its own insistent demonstration, yet it is not that of a balladeer or of arrogant poets who refute their audience for the sake of a flashack. The kindness and warmth in their musings is quite compelling. And you know what? When they get to the top of that mountain, there sure to wave at you, and every passer by, for hours!
