Timo Maas

Shifter

Label: Perfecto Release Date: 29/04/2002

ab by Anita Bhagwandas April 30th, 2002

After the phenomenal success of the hook laden dance anthem ‘To Get Down’, it would be a feat to match its majesty by even half. But Timo Maas manages, yet again, to create the perfect electro-garage-funk tune; cleverly combining the ambiguous vocal caress of Birmingham based MC Chickaboo.

A lot of dance can be hard to actually just sit and listen to. But Maas creates a sound fusing curious electronic trickery and prime beats making it the perfect summer song to cruise to. Creating soundscapes that gleam with abstraction and impertinence is all part of Maas’s power. Try to resist, but you’ll have to warm to his sense of his suggestive anarchy at some point.
