The Tenderfoot are a band which have that most appealing of qualities; elusiveness. Not literally; if you looked, you'd probably find them crouching quietly in a Brighton pub, mulling over who borrowed their Arab Strap live album. No, I'm talking musically.
I mean, are they a post-rock Belle & Sebastian? A story-inclined Mogwai? A socialist Slint? Does it matter? Probably not, for all that you need to know is that this, their debut 45, sounds immensely promising, whilst teasingly, gives nothing away. Lamentive keyboards quietly weeze to distracted guitars which circle mesmerically around the melodic whisper of vocalist Darren Moon. "Big business won't protect you son/pay your dues and join a union," he urges in a song which positively oozes domestic melancholy. And its wonderful with it.
A giddy prospect.
