Dustin's Bar Mitzvah

To The Ramones

Label: Hungry Kid Release Date: 30/01/2006

12692
dionisio by Rob Webb February 19th, 2006

What would The Ramones think about an ode to their minimalist, no frills punk? They'd probably approve, in this case, because Dustins Bar Mitzvah rattle out a three minute amphetamine rush of shouty vocals and pedal-to-the metal guitars that sounds like it was recorded in a shed not a million miles away from CBGB.

Taking the shambolic punk-pop approach that served many of their London brethren so well in the early noughties, Dustins manage to cram in a bit of Buzzcocks-ish new-wave classicism to raise 'To The Ramones' above anything their most obvious contemporary rivals,* The Paddingtons*, have managed to churn out.

It's a story about using music as an escape from depressing situations, and this is just the kind of song fit for that very purpose. So take this 7” to your bedroom, crank it up and shout along. In other words, do with Dustins what they once did with The Ramones.
