And so Transgressive’s stable doors burst open once again. Leading the chase this time is the fine debut from Kentish electro-bopsters Goodbooks.

There’s nothing quite like a rousing, stamping refrain that’s unavoidably singable. It’s extremely satisfying then, that amongst the Kasbah rhythms and jolting guitar tweaks of ‘Walk With Me’, there lies an army of voices chanting the soon to be in(di)escapable mantra of “Oh, come on, walk with me/I want you to walk with me”. It’s a defiant addition to a song propelled by an itchy, nervous energy, captured so well in the despairing yelps of Max Cooke.

Equally pushy are the oscillating flourishes of b-side ‘Start/Stop’; a tune that darts from rolling ambience to ricocheting funk with such fits and starts it’s difficult to remove ear from speaker for fear of missing something. And there is the most attractive facet of this release – unease. Both songs seem very carefully put together - piece-by-piece - yet there is a restlessness that makes these electro-boogies really fly. Pretty cool if ya think about it.
