Following on from two of the finest EPs released this year in CMYK and Klavierwerke - it's fair to say that a James Blake full-length is being quite hotly anticipated. Which is why it's good news that we now know the release date of it and a possible title (via FactMag).»

You may think that, whilst Joanna Newsom's career so far has been relatively sparkling, she's hardly a worthy subject of whole albums of covers. Some people might agree with you, but if you sit down and think about it, the quality of material points towards more worthiness than not. So reconsider.»

Last year saw Leeds duo worriedaboutsatan release their debut record, Arrivals. It was, and still is, a masterpiece of nocturnal electronica, with the odd bit of guitar-related content creeping in. There's been a few bits and bobs from them this year, including the equally excellent 'Heart Monitor' and the remix of White Hinterland's 'Icarus'.»

Hey! It's time for a new ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead track. It's not streaming here, but it is streaming over at Spin.com, which is a very, very, very good reason to visit that website, even if you don't normally do so. The track is called 'Summer Of All Dead Souls' and is a motivating piece of work, at least in a semi-physical sort of way. Not quite wall-punching in its intensity, but approaching it. »

British Sea Power may have released one of the most criminally underrated albums - and indeed whole musical projects - in last year's Man Of Aran. Which, in some ways, is a shame. They return with a new album next year, though, and we can now get a little taste of it as they've made a track free to download.»

Don't want to bleat on too much here, but Ash are playing London at The Park Rooms on Saturday November 13. We're not just giving away a pair of tickets this time but a pair of VIP tickets to see them play. This includes access to the sound-check and, of course, the after-party. All worth having I'd say.»

I can't say I've ever had the desire to interview John Lydon, although I'm sure he'd be an entertaining person to do so with. If you're a fan of the man and fancy having a 10-minute one-to-one chat with him then you're in luck, or you could be. »

Over the last few weeks there's been a drip-feed of information about Gruff Rhys's new solo record. We'd learned about the release date, the tracklisting, even saw a video. But there was still no title. Or rather, we didn't know what the title was. Well now we do.»

The brilliant Danish group Efterklang have been busy working with French film maker and director Vincent Moon for a film. Exciting stuff. The band made the film in August this year on an island in the Danish countryside, hence the film being called An Island. We are told the aim was to shoot a piece which would be roughly as long as an album with plenty of musical collaborations and general messing about.»

Now, we don't normally do these sort of "remix of X by person Y" type articles but today we make an exception. Firstly, we make an exception because it is Leeds Day on DiS and the band in question here are very much from Leeds. Secondly, we make an exception because the remix is abso-fucking-lutely fantastic. It may even be - whisper it - better than the original. That takes some doing, by the way. »

Earlier this week the news broke that Patrick Wolf was to return with a new single in December entitled 'Time Of My Life'.
