Hertfordshire quintet atakku (the Japanese word for ‘attack’, apparently) know how to make an impression: up the amplification, up the aggression, up the metal. Stop. Repeat. Smack the senses sideways until blood is spilt and resistance futile.
Here we have five tracks. Here we have an unholy noise that sounds like the finer, more melodic moments of metalcore heroes Will Haven shattered into tiny, razor-sharp shards and reassembled - incorporating some gigantic, stadium-sized riffs - into a new, violent and unpredictable beast. Here we might just have a part of British metal’s future.
