Meredith Godreau's voice is feathery, airy soft and saccharine sweet. Soothing on the ear and blissfully calming with an edge that denotes something deeper and more meaningful beneath the surface. From her opening breath there is potential here for something truly haunting and powerful and yet, much to its detriment, Moenie and Kitchi never pushes further than the realms of safety and expectation.

If I were to tell you that Gregory & The Hawk is another female vocal led acoustic folk/indie band, images would inevitably conjure in your mind, and disappointingly those images would most likely be spot on. Track after track, this is a selection of meandering guitars, touching melodies and instrumental niceties. It's pleasant enough, lovely in fact. Indeed, during songs such as 'Stone Wall, Stone Fence' it hints at something enchanting and intoxicating, but when it comes to displaying anything that sets this record apart from its myriad predecessors, it falls disappointingly flat.

Sadly, this is a record that skates over but never quite grips the dramatically beautiful and emotional, nor the edgy or inventive. In a generation where each and every one of us carries around hundreds of albums on a daily basis, that means it's also one that's destined to be forgotten.
