Human Waste Project

E-Lux

Label: Hollywood Records Release Date: 30/09/1997

4434
jbeth by Jo Beth July 9th, 2003

The debut CD from Aimee Echo lead Human Waste Project is something not to be missed. Although primarily a metal CD, Echo has confessed E-Lux is comprised of "love songs, really!" and to all extents and purposes, it shows. Hauntingly sung melodies backed with the instrumental side of HWP creates the perfect ambience of a threatening (and yet soothing, as the seventh track 'Electra' proves) record.

The album flows through uncompromising, delicate and yet brutal dynamics, Echo's vocals ranging from sickly-sweet to all out rage. 'Disease', for example, shows off Echo's screaming impeccably, whilst 'One night in Spain' portrays an utterly unique but captivating singing voice.

It's rebellious, angry, loving and highly contagious. Unfortunately for the band, they seem to have made a top metal CD at the wrong time and due to that fact, they were unfairly dubbed as nu-metal. E-Lux is a classic metal album, if only they'd had the right hype around them.
