As much I’d like to say this is a well orchestrated piece of hyperactive rock, my immediate reaction to _'L.L. Romeo'_ released by Canadian 3-piece **We Are Wolves** is a sense of overriding disappointment. The traditions, albeit cynically, are all in place: the shouty vocals, the relentless synths, the angular guitars - but in all departments, they seem to be lacking in relation to their nearest rivals. In terms of excitement, **586** would have them beat; if you’re judging in terms of musical competence, **Les Georges Leningrad** are far and away the better band; and if measured by raw energy, **Test Icicles**’ previous work displays much more.

Which is disappointing to say the least. The trio’s debut _Je te plie en deux_ was a far more accomplished piece and featured many a better track than this - the eclecticism of tracks like _‘La Nature’_ and _‘Little Birds’_, with their irregular instrumentation and spontaneity, far outshine this sonically repetitive cut for instance.

A lesson to those selecting singles from albums and unlikely to interest any new listeners, We Are Wolves are a far better band than this single suggests…I only wonder how many will have been turned off by its faults already.
