Carl Barat: Libertines WILL split if Pete stays away

Red-Top readers will already know this, but for the sake of those who avoid such papers like the plague, The Libertines' Carl Barat has gone on the record as saying that the band will split if wayward member Pete Doherty doesn't come back to them after treatment for his... oh YOU KNOW.

Anyway, Barat said: "He likes the romance of drugs and the whole world that goes with it. But you've got to have hope, without that we'd all be stuffed. It feels weird doing all this without him and I don't want to continue this way indefinitely.

"I can't see us doing anymore writing or recording without him. I think I would rather end it."
