REM singer Michael Stipe has told journalists to quit portraying his mate Thom Yorke as a sour-faced ol' misery.
Stipe, pictured, has said that Yorke's a very happy person. Check it:
"Thom in person is not as cheerless as the media like to portray him. We have suffered the same thing for years, just because my band's music leans towards the darker emotions. I'm happy to report that Mr Thom Yorke is a very happy and a very well-rounded and very smart person."
We've never doubted it. Nope, not ever - not at any point during The Bends' really upbeat twelve songs, nor when he was wailing about kicking, screaming Gucci little piggies. Not us. We always assumed he was as happy-go-lucky as Dave Grohl.
Note: we love Thom Yorke and would like to tickle him. We feel, though, that tickling Michael Stipe would be wrong. Because he's a bit bald? Maybe, yes...
