Sixty-year-old singer-songwriter Neil Young scooped the award for Artist of the Year at this year's Americana Honors and Awards, held on Friday September 22.
The fifth annual ceremony was held in Nashville, and Young's work over the past 30 years was recognised by the Americana Music Association (more information here).
Young's Living With War failed to win the Album of the Year award, though; that, and the Song of the Year award, went the way of James McMurtry. The album in question is the highly-political Childish Things (released last year), and the song 'We Can't Make It Here', which directly criticises George W Bush and company.
The Group of the Year category was won by Drive-By Truckers and Kenny Vaughan won in the Instrumentalist category.
