DiS launches gig listings with Probemusic
matt by Matthew Willson July 10th, 2001

The more observant amongst you may have noticed a new addition to the Drowned in Sound menu - Gig listings. This section has been launched as part of our ongoing collaboration with London listings and reviews 'zine Probemusic, and will give Drowned in Sound readers access to their comprehensive listings of gigs in the London area.

Unlike many other gig guides we aim to provide a brief description of each band playing, to give the reader some idea of what to expect, and to help with that all-important decision of who to see on a friday night. All the important info is there - the bands, the date, the venue, the price - and listings can be generated for any particular date, band, venue or town. To further aid your decision we will be picking the best of the week's gigs for the 'Our pick' column of the gig listings page. Finally, to help you track down live appearances from bands on the site, Drowned in Sound band profiles will now list any upcoming tour dates from the gig guide for that band.

All very well for Londoners, you may say, but what about the rest of the country? Well, in addition to Probemusic's London listings we will be adding tour dates for our favourite bands and venues around the UK, and these will be accessible through the gig listings section. How comprehensive we can be depends on how much information you can provide us with and the keeness of our regional contributors - if you have tour dates to be added, or would like to assist in compiling gig listings for your area, do get in touch.

Enjoy the new listings section - we hope it will prove useful!
