DiS + Huw = Swn: Cardiff gets a 'crawl'
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly July 5th, 2007

Drowned in Sound is proud to announce its involvement with Huw Stephens' new Swn festival, set to take place in venues across Cardiff this November.

No acts are confirmed for Swn as-of-yet, but they are sure to be of a magnificent calibre. Says Huw:

“Swn will be a three day showcase of some of the best music from Wales and will also bring a lot of non-Welsh artists to Cardiff.

"The thrill of going from venue to venue to see different bands and DJs is unique, and Cardiff will be the perfect city to host a festival of this kind.”

What you need to know:
a) Drowned in Sound will be taking up residency at the Cardiff Barfly.
b) 'Swn' should actually be 'S?n', but some browsers don't speak Welsh so we had to use our noggins. Unfortunately, SWN is the shorthand for Southwestern Energy Company. This festival is not an energy company, but is relatively southwestern.
c) Swn is Welsh for 'noise'. No txt shrtcts 4 da Wlsh, den.

“November in Cardiff will be injected with a shot of excitement," continues Huw, "thanks to a brilliant bill of bands, diverse DJs, folk, art exhibitions and films, specially curated nights put on by well respected labels, more quality nights by local promoters who continually put on gigs all year round, and a lot of special surprises.

"You won't be disappointed!”

That's quite a pledge. Will Huw Stephens keep his word, or is he a big liar bear? Only one way to find out.
