I Was A Cub Scout have announced that they are to tour with Minus The Bear in the UK and throughout Europe this winter. The band also recently completed the recording of their debut album, I Want You To Know That There Is Always Hope.
Recorded with Hugh Padgham (he of The Police, XTC and Phil Collin's 'In The Air Tonight' fame), the 11-track album was finished last week and will be out in early 2008. It will contain new recordings of previous singles 'Pink Squares' and 'Our Smallest Adventures', as well as live favourite 'Part II'. All the other tracks are completely new songs.
Speaking to DiS, like, totally exclusively, Todd Marriott had this to say about the record and the forthcoming Minus The Bear dates:
"The record sounds pretty awesome. There's a lot of epic in there, and a good amount of rock too. Hopefully people will hear the record and see that we've tried really hard to make a good, cohesive record.
"We've poured our two little hearts into it, and we're very proud.
"There's trumpet contributions by Youthmovies and backing vocals by mewithoutYou, too, so that's got to impress someone. But maybe not our mothers."
On the forthcoming MTB dates, he had this to say:"Minus The Bear are one of our favourite bands – we liked them well before Dave Grohl did – and we're so grateful they asked us to tour with them. However, we're scared because apparently they party like men, and we're just boys, so hopefully they'll look after us."
