While we’re not usually ones to sing our own praises at DiS, this can’t go without a mention: last night, at the annual Record of the Day awards (for music journalism and PR), DiS was named the Best Online Music Publication.
Which means, basically, you’re reading the best music magazine – online – in the UK according to the votes of our peers. Which is quite nice really, isn’t it? That’s us – DiS founder Sean and I – collecting our award between beers. Coats still on for a hasty getaway if need be.
Thanks need to be directed the way of you lot, our readers, who make running the site worthwhile, and to DiS’s many contributors from across the globe. Thanks, one and all, and thank you too to those who voted for us. You all know who you are. We probably owe y’all a fair few pints.
So yeah, brilliant. Wicked. Ta.
Also last night: DiS’s podcast was shortlisted in the top five for its category, with The Guardian Music Weekly winning, and I placed runner up in the Breaking Music Journalist category, behind Peter Robinson. Yay. Read all the winners here if you’re at all interested.
