Gemma Hayes, Hey Sholay, Temper Trap, Halls, Blanck Mass + loads more join The Great Escape 2012
sean by Sean Adams March 28th, 2012

The third wave of names for The Great Escape Festival 2012 are upon us...

Let's kick things off with the latest additions to the three nights of DiS curated music, which take place from 10th-12th May in Brighton. We've already announced some of the acts playing our bills: Errors, When Saints Go Machine, New Look, Eight And a Half, The Soft plus the DiS vs Erased Tapes Records night with Nils Frahm, A Winged Victory for the Sullen and The British Expeditionary Force. And now we've got two more names for our stages to reveal, and then a 140+ more acts for the festival itself to reveal...

GEMMA HAYES

You may remember a lot of love on DiS around the time of the release of Irish songwriter Gemma Hayes' Mercury-nominated, Dave Fridmann-produced debut album Night On My Side. You may be thinking, there hasn't been that much on here about her albums since but the love has never subsided. In fact, there is barely a Sunday that drifts by in my household without her rich voice purring from the stereo, so I'm really excited that she's coming to play for us in Brighton.

BEN KWELLER

We're thrilled to reveal our headliner for Thursday night at the Great Escape will be cult-hero Ben Kweller. It's almost 20 years since he formed sugar-metallers Radish, yet he somehow still looks like a teenager. He'll be sha-lala-ing and strumming for us at the Komedia.

---

There are 141 acts joining the bill today (I've updated our Great Escape Spotify playlist with some of these additions. Here is the list in full (we can't be bothered to re-format these into lowercase, soz!)...
