Lee's peeved: Evanescence singer gets legal
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver December 9th, 2005

Amy Lee of pop-goth types Evanescence is filing a law suit against her personal manager, Dennis Rider. "So what?" you ask. Well, get this: she accuses Rider of "wrongful and tortuous behavior". Torture? Cool*.

The lawsuit states that Rider "has neglected Lee's career and business and has focused his efforts on having extramarital affairs, hiding them from his wife, becoming intoxicated during business meetings, physically abusing women and boasting about it, making repeated unwelcome sexual advances toward Lee, receiving fees in excess of what was provided for in his management agreement, and using Lee's corporate credit card to purchase lavish gifts for his mistress - without Lee's knowledge or consent - including an $18,000 automobile and a week-long vacation in Florida."

Lawyers on Rider's side claim that he has fully performed all of his duties and obligations, and that he has always acted professionally. His attorney, Bert Deixler, states:

"(Lee) is creating a version of reality that simply has no basis in fact, and she knows that. Dennis Rider's guidance... has made her a rock and roll celebrity worldwide and wealthy beyond her dreams. That she would now turn on him, make such spurious and groundless allegations and summarily dismiss him is illegal and disappointing beyond words."

There is no word yet as to whether the matter will reach court.

*DiS in no way approves of torturing pop-goth banshees. Oh no sir, not us.
