Avant-garde NYC dance-rock loons Battles - they of John Stanier and Ian Williams membership, formerly of Helmet and Don Caballero respectively - are to release all of their recordings to date as a double-disc set through Warp Records.
EP C/B EP is released on February 20th, and also features the two tracks that made up the band's 'EP A'. To promote its British release, the four-piece will play London's Luminaire on February 16th; a further tour of Britain and Europe is expected to be announced later in the year.
Talking to DiS via the wonder of the internet, guitarist Williams explained the band's move to Warp as follows:
"The DJ killed rock, so rock kills the DJ also. One hand washes the other and then we dry our hands and move on to the next thing, but only to be killed again. It's so sad. You gotta live to die, but also to die to live, so you can be reborn next spring. It's life."
Righto, and what about Mr Stanier's lofty cymbal when the band plays live?
"John's rotator cuff was injured snowboarding a while ago, so it's easier for him to strike at that angle, believe it or not."
The band also have a proper album brewing, which may see a release at the tail end of this year.
