Flaming Lips: Timberlake on Bass SHOCKER!
ollierussian by ollie January 23rd, 2003
The Flaming Lips and Justin Timberlake will perform together on Fridays Top of the Pops.

Justin, apparently a big fan of the band through his ex-girlfriend (no not that one..) bumped into the Lips at a London radio station earlier this week. After a quick introduction Wayne Coyne invited Justin to play bass for the band seeing as they were both recording for Top of the Pops on the same day. Even more bizarrely Justin jumped at the chance and has even offered to learn the bass line to play live!

The last few months have seen the Lips reaching new career heights, a top 20 single and on Tuesday they were presented with Silver discs for sales of both the 'Soft Bulletin' and last year's 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots'.

In America they are even currently the stars of a nation wide Hewlett Packard advert! Their recent tour, which ended last night at the London Forum has received rave reviews and has been full of surprises. Special guests on the tour have included Beth Orton, Badly Drawn Boy, Gruff from the SFA and on Tuesday night's London show Ash's Tim Wheeler even performed an acoustic version of 'Teenage Kicks'.... with a cello player. Add to this up to 25 people dressed as furry animals on stage every night, which has included members of Goldrush, The Rock of Travolta and even Hollywood actress Juliette Lewis (see: Cape Fear and some other shite films...) who even turned up at one gig wearing her own suit!

All very bizarre indeed, be sure to tune into TOTPs this friday cos there may be a few more surprises yet....
