Quite-popular-actually London record store Sister Ray turns 25 this year, and by way of celebration they're... wait for it... relaunching their website!
Actual überWoW.
Londoners will know that the shop recently moved a few yards down Berwick Street to larger premises (the old Selectadisc shop); what they might not know is that Sister Ray is to increase the size of its vinyl section. Yes, fight the (downloading) man!
Only they're not, wholly, fighting the good fight, against technology that is: part of the purpose of the website relaunch is to allow customers to purchase digital tracks as well as physical releases.
But, co-owner Phil Barton is keen to big-up the store's increased emphasis on old-school 12"s:
"You can't download the feel of a vinyl record. If you could I'd shut tomorrow. People still care about artwork. They want the whole package, the whole shopping experience. An angler doesn't go to the fishmongers for kicks does he?"
No, he doesn't. He goes there to BUY FISH.
The store's website is here if you wanna stock up on Fall reissues. If you'd rather just make a cup of tea, one sugar please.
