So I played The Bends on the way in to work, and when I arrive there's news of a Radiohead tour... coincidence? I THINK NOT. Tomorrow I'm gonna listen to Endtroducing and Siamese Dream, just in case...
Anyway, to the matter at hand: Radiohead have announced some British shows for May, prior to a to-be-confirmed Canadian tour in June and the V Festival in August (long sold out). They also play the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Edinburgh on August 22nd, supported by Beck. May dates are as follows:
May12 Blackpool Empress Ballroom
13 Blackpool Empress Ballroom
15 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
16 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
18 London Hammersmith Apollo
19 London Hammersmith Apollo
Tickets go on sale on March 25th at 9am SHARP, and are available online from gigsandtours.com (note that they're not on sale yet, or even announced!). A limited number of advance tickets will be made available to w.a.s.t.e. members, with sales starting on March 22nd (tomorrow!) at midday. Click here for info. Tickets are around the £32.50 mark, although that's pre-booking fee.
Support comes from Willy Mason (May only). Speaking to NME.com, who have run these dates as an 'exclusive' (hmmm...), the band say:
"We're excited to be touring again, especially to play new songs to an audience. For the first time, we have no contract or release deadline to fulfil - it's both liberating and terrifying. We will be playing new songs that are work in progress, (and) releasing music to download when we are excited about it, rather than wait twelve months for a full-blown album release. Music's... a document of its time, and we want to be able to put a song out when it feels right."
A download-only single could well emerge during the May tour.
DiScuss: WE WANNA GO, WE WANNA GO! But that second London date clashes with ATP... CURSES!
