Californian not-quite-nu-metallers Deftones are to return to record stores with fresh material this September, according to MTV.
The band's fifth studio album proper, which follows last year's collection of b-sides, is scheduled for a release on September 12. As yet, no title has been mentioned. A single, though, has been made official: 'Hole In The Earth' is due just prior to the album.
Frontman Chino Moreno spoke to the music channel about the seventeen tracks they've thus far recorded:
"The heavy stuff is really, really heavy, like really aggressive, and the stuff that's sweet and weird or whatever is sweeter and weirder. A lot of people will probably compare it to White Pony, because that was one of the most diverse records that we did. This one's probably the most diverse record we've done."
Y'see, I totally dig White Pony, so this news = exciting. Yup.
