The marketplace for acoustic indie is probably one of the most crowded out there at the moment but, judging by this demo, Bristol five-piece Mirima deserve to find a place in it.

'Twister' begins with atmospheric keyboards and effects, building up a sense of foreboding which perfectly fits the simple but effective lyrics about a storm, and proceeds to a great impassioned chorus with chiming guitars. It benefits from the fine voice of their singer (not sure on names), which sounds a fair bit like Tom McRae's and is similarly pleasant to listen to while being subtly sinister.

There is nothing totally original here, but 'Twister' suggests that Mirima are excellent at what they do and definitely compares well with similar acts like Turin Brakes who have made it comercially and critically. It's a shame that they only included one song; hopefully future ones will be just as impressive.
