Three Minute Spanish Film

Label: Lockjaw Records Release Date: 15/07/2002

rluckett by Robert Luckett July 15th, 2002

So when do you become tired of it?? All this garage punk emo nonsense that's exciting the hairs on our neck at the mo, keeps chucking out spine tingling bands into out sheltered little 'alternative' worlds. I really should despise this record, it sounds like every other decent guitar record you’ve heard this year. But I don't.

thisGirl (love that wacky spelling!!) have been around for a few years, and finally have delivered a record that's worthy of the minor hype that was surrounding them. "Three Minute Spanish Film" is fantastic, all deliciously moshable hard-core, emo tarnished punk-metal with amazingly fucked-up beats and frantic vocals.

Of course, it sounds like 100 Reasons jamming with early Jimmy Eat World whilst wanking over Fugazi. But who can begrudge them these impeccable influences??

How long I'll love this record, I don't know. A song of the moment, if not for all time.
