Mylo

Destroy Rock & Roll

Label: Release Date: 24/01/2005

7441
gdobson by Gareth Dobson January 21st, 2005

Hep, not-so-young thing Mylo had a bit of a stormer in 2004, and 2005 sees the Hebridian consolidate his position of knob twiddler du jour with an outrageously good piece of list-disco stutter-dance magic.

Plucked from some God-fearing, cow herding pop basing US Senate monologue circa the musical circa the musical dark ages (let’s say 1983) ‘Destroy Rock & Roll’ lists a heavenly assortment of FM deities (Springsteen, Duran Duran, McCartney) and true (Reggie Jackson?!) as a true example of Satan polluting the airwaves. All set behind, naturally, a bass-heavy methodical, grunging synth breakdown.

It’s a storming piece of pop-literate dancefloor madness madness that’s as addictive as the crack that inevitably destroyed half these people’s careers.

We can safely say that it’s the non crap novelty disco tune of the year.

All together now: “MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN…………”
