Though this makes me want to spontaneously bang my (once long haired) head and jump around like a prawn, and though I have no doubt that it'll have the same effect on rock dance floors around the world, and though it brought my face out into a bloody massive grin at the sheer unadulterated, unashamed ROCK of it all and though I LOVE the album...

I can't help thinking that the former members of RATM have gone and done a Paul Weller, retreating from the ground they broke back into the sounds that inspired them. We have a huge fat riff, and searing soaring vocals .... and it really reminds me of 'Whole Lotta Love'....but the riffs are played with 2003 precision steel....and I love the fact it exists, and I love listening to it.. and I think, given their collective live prowess, they will be incredible live, and will now form half of my dream 2003 billing, if they played with QOTSA.... but.....

I also kind of wish that these four near-legendary musicians had chosen to break some new boundaries, instead of retreading an old town with new shoes, and I really miss the politics... With those morons in the White House seeming out of control, politically incisive lyrics would have been just what the doctor ordered.
