The cultural hub of the antipodes - Sydney, Australia should be a city bubbling with pseudo-balearic rhythms. There’s sun, sea, sand and numerous other alliterations to carve into the backdrop. Sydneysider Sam Littlemore seems in little disagreement and had been swathing the city for the past six years from his studio.

Now signed to Underwater, as ‘Sam La More’, his ‘Takin’ Hold’ seems suitably uplifting a ditty to take hold over our smaller, greyer skies and to no doubt bring comfort to his rain-sodden compatriates in Earl's Court.

‘Takin’ Hold’, is a warm, pulsating slab of dance music and whilst it could take further melodic diversions (the powerful pull of the pop structure seems alien to many a dj), its space invader sound samples are a sweet, saccharine diversion. The temptation to pack my bags and head for warmer climes in a beaten up convertible with a chilled six-pack grows sweeter every day.
