Welcome back then, to those smiley troubadours The Polyphonic Spree; bringing their own particular brand of lobotomised shit-grinning joy-pop. ‘Hold Me Now’ is about an unhappy person, who should, like, be really happy, cos, like, the world’s actually an alright place. Thanks, Tim Delaughter**.
Having to listen to The Polyphonic Spree is akin to slashing your wrists to a Disney movie, it’s one hell of a warped endurance test. What I don’t understand is, if there’s about 17,000 members of the Polyphonic Spree, how come their songs always sound like they were recorded by a four-piece from Camden with 5 children singing backing vocals? And how on earth do they feed everyone? Not with this spiritual gruel, I tell thee.
