Imagine if Karen O had been born and raised in the Australian outback and reared on a diet of damper and vegemite. She would probably have started her singing "career" with something a little jaunty-but-jovial like the country-gal-in-stocks blues of 'Sukkafish'.

As the years went by, and little "Karen" - now known as Patience - started hearing all these heretic English girls like the Slits and the Voodoo Queens screaming away garishly to the detriment of her disgruntled forefathers, she developed a singing voice that resembled something inbetween that of a banshee and a quivering gale, spewing out lines like "I got a message for you and it's dirt..." and "Use your bed like a trampoline...take me higher, higher, HIGHER" and...

...out of the middle of nowhere (literally) comes the new wave of grrrlll power. The best thing about this record is that you can play it to those you love and hate the most at the same time and still get the same reaction from either. Invincible.
