Tiger Force

Syntax Error

Label: Marquis Cha Cha Release Date: 13/11/2006

18250
holliy by holliy November 13th, 2006

Tiger Force have always been gleefully energetic, and new single ‘Syntax Error!’ develops that into an overt, mishmashed – but still biting – playfulness.

And they wear it very well, the mix of fuzzy noises, sing-song lyrics, bouncing inter-linked rhymes and tentatively plinking tunefulness sounding like Atari Teenage Riot might have if they’d decided to branch out into nursery rhymes. Though the refrain of “Fire! Fire! Pressure! Pressure!” and the fact that it’s about burning things down might not’ve go down well in your local playgroup.

Meanwhile, AA-Side ‘Five, Six, I Got Sticks’ sees the duo on more usual form: it’s a 56-second apocalypse of beats, hollering, distortion and blistering, stylish venom.

Tiger Force make warped and constantly surprising music, full of lumps, bumps and weirdnesses – and they do so with such drive and passion that the listeners’ attention is engaged and guided through the stop-start disconcertions. That drive and engagement means their songs feel far more cohesive and balanced than any such collection of randomnesses has a right to, and melds them into slabs of absolutely perfect bewilderment.
