Have you ever wondered what Kasabian might sound like if they had collectively worshipped Spaceman3 instead of Primal Scream? Probably not, but GUILE (thats all capitals) give something close to the answer, with the Sonic Boom fronted noise machine's sound being distilled and given a more mainstream-friendly sheen.
Which works to good effect on the latter track You Had It All, but not so much in A-side My Salvation, a mid-paced power-chord lead track which shouldnt realistically be more than album filler. The passion is there but the poorly-recorded vocals and lack of direction greatly hinder its quality.
However no such problems arise in the second track. The addition of the chaos element greatly improves You Had It All, as does the raise in tempo. Comparisons here can be drawn to And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead's more straight-forward ROCK moments along with Spaceman3 and similar bands_
So GUILE's debut single is nothing groundbraking and has more than a few negative aspects, but theres enough promise to warrant keeping an eye out for them in the future, even if you dont purchase this.
