The DiScover Diary - August 20-26
The DiScover Diary - August 20-26
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver August 20th, 2007

Each week, the DiScover Diary will outline some choice gigs up and down the country, highlighting some excellent up-and-coming acts across the nation’s varied stages, and focus on one act in particular who are both on tour and on the DiS stereo rather a lot of late. Here we sneak a brief peek at new singing and songwriting kid on the block Eugene McGuinness, who just happens to have bagged himself a few choice support slots…

Eugene McGuinness
From: London, but studied in Liverpool until recently
Line-up: Eugene, plus occasional backing band

We’ve been banging on about Eugene’s talents for a while now – our DiScover interview from April can be read here – but now ears elsewhere are starting to open up to his warmly melodic charms. Looking more and more likely, with each passing release and show, to follow in the footsteps of solo acts like Jamie T and Kate Nash and court the mainstream, now is the time to be catching Eugene before his ticket price escalates and he won’t talk to the filthy likes of us anymore. DiS accidentally totally fanboy’d him at a recent London show – sorry, Eugene, but we do think you’re a bit spesh.

Available now: The Early Learnings Of Eugene McGuinness (mini album; Double Six; out now)
MySpace here
Dates follow:

21 Manchester Academy 3 with Rilo Kiley
