Like us, the folks at the University of Sheffield love their music. So much so, in fact, that they've handed over their intimate Raynor Lounge venue to us, DrownedInSound.com, for one special evening in March (the 14th, to be precise). Here's the lowdown:
What?
A gig, essentially, with a splendid selection of new music and special guest DJs for your aural pleasure, not to mention scandalously cheap entry (£3.50 advance!) and drinks prices (less than £2 for a pint!)
Who?
Emmy The Great
"Emmy The Great's blend of cutting, succinct lyricism and delicate guitar tones builds a fire in your heart and spreads a wry grin across your face" Myspace
Situationists
"A classic noughties indie-pop band: tunes you can hum, interlocking guitars and harmonies a go go" Myspace
The Little Explorer
"Full of subtle complexities that don’t bamboozle the listener, nor smack of pretentiousness, but simply entertain" Myspace
When?
Wednesday 14th March 2007, 8pm 'til 1am.
Where?
The Raynor Lounge, University Of Sheffield Union Of Students, Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TG (Google map)
How?
Tickets are £3.50 in advance, 50p more on the night, and are available from the University of Sheffield box office, Jacks Records and Forever Changes (both of which are located in Sheffield). Any DiSsers from further afield who would like to purchase advance tickets can contact me via the medium of PM. Please note, you must be over 18 to get in. Sorry kids.
So, there you have it. This is the first DiS event to be held in Sheffield, so let's make it a good one. It would be an absolute pleasure to see you there - if nothing else you get to spend an evening in the company of this man which is surely worth the admission fee alone?
