Sobered-up troubadour Ryan Adams is to release a book and tour the UK.
DiS was surprised this morning to dip into our RSS reader and discover that Ryan Adams, has posted a blog about his first book.
One wonders whether this book will just be one long scathing attack on Courtney Love (which could probably run for three hundred pages...). However, we suspect it'll be a little like Bukowski's 'Post Office', but about a guy who plays guitar, gets drunk, and falls off of stages.
Anyway, here's the blog he posted:
"here’s something - it’s selfish, but inter-cardinal related so……i woke up today to a great email from my bosses at AKASHIC BOOKS……
INFINITY BLUES- (“domestic-release” working cover)….wow….i guess this dream is coming true…..my grandparents, who taught me to write, and type and dream, i am so proud of all your hard work today, even if this is a long long sad book but some funny too, just like those black and white movies in the heat of the eastern seaboard- rolling through the windows of our home…..i am so humbled and so PROUD to be an AKASHIC BOOKS author……
man, this is just crazy, like when i saw the first test pressing of the first 7inch record i was on…..
i feel like i will be able to say i left a little of my heart here, for when i am gone, maybe there will be comfort or safety in there, for people i will never know, for our generations never passing...
i have to maybe go take a nap now. bye. xx"
Also if you didn't know he's on tour in the UK in November with The Cardinals:
8 Dublin, Ambassador Theatre
10 Manchester Academy
11 Newcastle Academy
13 Leeds Academy
14 Edinburgh, Picture House
16 Cambridge, Corn Exchange
17 Birmingham Academy

20 Brixton Academy
22 Southampton Guildhall
DiScuss: what do you reckon the book will be like? Will he now start releasing six books a year and one good album every two? Can anyone make out whether the third paragraph is from the publishers? Do you think the whole book will suffer from a lack of capitalization and end each chapter with two x's? Ever had that buzz of your first 7inch being pressed? Might giving an album away with a book be a good way to ensure his fans buy it?
