Joanna Newsom to feature on new Roots record
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater April 23rd, 2010

It appears that Joanna Newsom will be appearing on The Roots' new record, How I Got Over, in one form or another. That is, according to the hip-hop group's drummer ?uestlove, who revealed so on his Twitter page yesterday.

He uploaded the following video with the following post:

"PROOF that yes indeed we are working hard on #HOWIGOTOVER (first look) mixing the Joanna Newsome Jawn."

As pointed out by Pitchfork, the track that is sampled appears to be 'The Book Of Right On'. But don't fret, according to Entertainment Weekly it will also feature Joanna recording some new overdubs for whatever it is she's doing. Which is much better than just a plain ol' sample.

Elsewhere on the album, it has also been confirmed that John Legend appears somewhere, as does My Morning Jacket's Jim James. Both have also already recorded their parts, as it were. Further news indicates that The Roots have recorded a version of Monsters of Folk's 'Dear God' which, given its production and general beat tendencies, was always a prime candidate if any track was.
