Once again the tour is split into four legs, comprising three regions with 12 regional promoters on board, each of whom have chosen their favourite local band to play one leg of the tour, meaning that each band plays two gigs outside its hometown and one at its local venue. This second round features several bands who have already made headlines, such as Mavis, Jobe, Bikeshed, Insomnia and Mercedes.
Transit is the brainchild of Generator, the music development agency based in the North East of England bringing together UK promoters and the cream of local unsigned bands. Most established promoters shy away from booking unknown acts and this new scheme hopes to inspire a broader outlook.
Transit's main aim is to provide support for regional promoters by making introductions and encouraging the flow of shared experience, which in turn will lead to stronger network opportunities. Transit also provides a unique platform for up'n'coming acts to play venues outside their hometown to gain a wider audience at an early stage in their careers. check out their website at www.transit.uk.net
