The album marks an exciting collaboration with the event, which since its inception in April 2002 and has highlighted and showcased the talented acts of the Merseyside area and further afield.
Young acts regularly perform alongside established bands at the Masque Theatre, Seel Street, and with the events also featuring the legendary Pocket Philosophy, visual art and performance poetry (and some goddamn sharp suit-wearing), to experience Inner City Sumo is to experience one of the most vibrant and visceral headspaces in the City Of Music.
The CD will feature an Enhanced CD-Rom section with information, links, photos and interviews with the acts involved. The full tracklisting is expected to be confirmed within a fortnight.
The album will be distributed throughout the UK and its release is scheduled to coincide with Inner City Sumo’s 1st birthday celebrations this year.
Other scheduled Spank Records activity for 2003 includes: the forthcoming release of material by new Spank act, Worcester’s hard-touring tunetodgers B-Movie Heroes, whose as-yet untitled album was recorded in Liverpool’s Soundhouse studios; a new tour by rasping rockmongs The Relatives to precede their second album release later in the year; negotiations are ongoing with 'a collection of singles on 7” vinyl by some quite brilliant new acts'.
