Manics On The Move...
mreed by Mark Reed March 20th, 2003
The Manic Street Preachers have confirmed that they will headline the first night of Manchester's MOVE festival on Friday 11th July.

The show, at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground, will see the Manics supported by fellow Welshies Super Furry Animals. The festival, now in its third year, seems to be yet another permanent fixture in an increasingly crowded summer calendar and has also secured REM and The Charalatans as well as Feeder, John Squire, Idlewild, Badly Drawn Boy and Depeche Mode vocalist David Gahan over the weekend of July 10-13th.

In an impersonal press release from his cottage in the Welsh Valleys, manics bassist Nicky Wire said: "We're really looking forward to playing Manchester again. We have great memories of playing there. The show we did at the M.E.N. Arena back in '97 ranks as one of our best gigs. I'm sure Move will be amazing."

Expect more festival dates from the Manics as the band limber up to plug their Greatest Hits album 'Forever Delayed' again. In the meantime, tickets for MOVE are on sale tomorrow from the usual places.
