When the utterly yum Rufus Wainwright released his divine third album ‘Want One’ late last year, he had a clever plan up his sleeve. Not content with filling our mundane music boxes with glorious songs reminiscent of a past era just once in twelve months, he decided to split the album in two and release ‘Want Two’ a few months later. And I say 'Yay' to this plan.
‘Waiting for a Want’, a four song EP, makes up the first part of the ‘Want Two’ release. But the EP won’t be available in a hold-in-your-hands format, but instead you can download it exclusively through the iTunes Music Store from June 29th. In addition to the four songs -"Gay Messiah," "The Love Affair," "The Art Teacher" and "Waiting for a Dream"-Wainwright will make downloadable album art available through rufuswainwright.com
Wainwright plans to release another collection of Want Two songs, which he characterizes as "a bit darker" and "more operatic" than those of its predecessor, this autumn.
Rufus and his band will be touring the UK from October, with support from his fantastically talented sister, Martha Wainwright.
