The Suffrajets signed to Sony by the time they’d hit 18, narrowly escaped unharmed from a coach crash on the M25, and lost their drummer, Gemma Clarke, to Babyshambles. All this and a tour with rock twats Towers Of London, and surely that alone would have been enough to finish off lesser bands.
‘Feisty’ is perhaps a word exclusively invented for The Suffrajets, and the limited edition ’Sold’ is certainly that. Production-wise though, it sounds like it was recorded in a hurry, running against the clock, as the producer cracked the whip to get the job done before the money ran out.
‘Sold’ then, was knocked out in a hurry, played at breakneck speed, and is all the better for it. It isn’t reinventing the wheel that’s for sure but for a quick three minute fix look no further.
