Reuben

Blamethrower

Label: Xtramile Release Date: 15/04/2005

8153
carrotrope by Jesus Chigley April 21st, 2005

'Blamethrower' comes as a download-only single some four months prior to Reuben's new album titled 'Very Fast, Very Dangerous'. While it's both fast and dangerous, whether or not it's actually interesting remains questionable.

Vicious from the outset, this feels looser and more careless musically and lyrically than the majority of the awesome debut 'Racecar Is Racecar Backwards'. The whole spoken stream-of-conciousness rant that kicks off mid-song feels particularly out of place and over-done.

Despite the promising start, 'Blamethrower' feels more throwaway than promising. Luckily, two more singles proper are due before the release of album - pun titles aside, here's hoping for something a little meatier.
