The Selector celebrates its third birthday next month, and you can be there.
The Selector is a globally syndicated radio show produced for the British Council with an estimated audience of a whopping 40 million pairs of ears. Not bad, eh? As part of their celebrations, a one-off night of eclectic entertainment is scheduled for August 9th at the Spitz in Shoreditch, London. Here are the details:
Chikinki – The NME like 'em, you know? Guitars, synths and swagger. Nice, so I'm told.
Dynamite MC – charismatic and crowd pleasing emcee, best known for his work with Roni Size and Reprazent. Brings forth a whole fresh bag of flavours from UKG to hip hop for his current album and this performance.
Eska – No, not the Scottish indie rock tykes. Eska is a new voice in UK soul and has a captivating stage presence. Features on the Ty, New Sector Movements and Soweto Kinch albums.
Lucky Jim – The surprise new signing to Brighton’s Skint label are a folky, song-driven duo that have had people drawing favourable comparisons to Dylan.
Also appearing are Wales' finest doped-up hip-hoppers, Goldie Lookin Chain, who'll be on the decks alongside other guest DJs.
Tickets for this show are limited to say the least, but DiS has two pairs to give away. All you have to do is write, in no more than ten words, what the crowd did after they went "Bo, selector!". (It's like a continuation of the Craig David song, y'see?) Post your suggestions below. They don't have to be bust-a-gut funny, but the funnier they are the more chance you have of winning these tickets. Nice one. Oh, and don't post if you can't make the show. Ta.
Winners will be notified next week. Limited tickets for the show are available from the Spitz on 020 7392 9032.
