Perhaps you’ve heard of The Young Knives? Perhaps, even, you’ve heard one of their excellently pop-rockin’ singles, all liberally doused in enough itching powder to have a grown man’s skin red raw in under three minutes? Perhaps, even even even, you’re aware that the Oxford trio have a debut album coming out on August 21? You are!? Great! Wanna come to a party, then…?
DiS has acquired a pair of money-can’t-buy tickets to the launch party for Voices Of Animals And Men, the title of said aforementioned long-player. The event takes the form of a – and check this – summertime school fete, and will be held at a secret location in London on Wednesday August 16, from 5 o’clock in the afternoon ‘til 8 o’clock. Plenty of time for pubbing afterwards, then.
Not that the lucky winner will need much alcoholic refreshment following the album launch, as booze at the event will be FREE. Well, some of it will be, anyway. There’ll also be a petting zoo, Morris Dancers, a Maypole to dance around, a meat raffle, Phill Jupitus’ jam stall (apparently world famous), a magician, guess the baby’s weight, and…
Oh, you know. It’s a fete.
This is a great prize, we think, so to be in with a chance of spending the afternoon with the House of Lords and mates, as well as DiS who’ll be staggering about with bellies full of cider, you’ll have to answer a devilishly difficult question…
In what year was Merton college, one of Oxford University’s very oldest colleges, founded? Was it…
A) 1264?
B) 1984?
C) Last Monday, after morning coffee?
That’s so easy a monkey – a really stupid monkey with no schooling whatsoever, not even in the art of tree climbing – could accurately answer it, no? So, send your answer to mike DOT diver AT drownedinsound DOT com, with the subject line ‘Monkeys are rarely seen around Oxford, though’, to be in with a chance of winning these really really really special passes.
The winner will be notified by e-mail on Tuesday 15 August. So check your e-mail then, yeah?
Yeah. Good luck!
