Kerrang! Awards: My Chemical Romance win big
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver August 25th, 2006

New Jersey quintet My Chemical Romance - whose third album (we can't tell you what it's called, even though we know and have heard it) is released in October - have been named 'Best Band On The Planet' at the annual Kerrang! Awards.

The popular rockers, playing Reading and Leeds this weekend, weren't the only winners at yesterday's ceremony - Muse won the 'Best Live Band' gong, and the honour of 'Best British Band' went the way of Welsh outfit Lostprophets. They also scooped the 'Best Album' award for their 'Liberation Transmission' long-player.

Slayer were inducted into the Kerrang! Hall Of Fame, and the yearly 'Legend' award went the way of AC/DC's Angus Young.

Winners in full as follows...

Best Band On The Planet - My Chemical Romance
Best British Band - Lostprophets
Best Live Band - Muse
Best Album - Lostprophets ‘Liberation Transmission’
Best Single - Bullet For My Valentine ‘Tears Don't Fall’
Best Video - Fall Out Boy ‘Sugar, We're Going Down’
Best British Newcomer - Bring Me The Horizon
Best International Newcomer - Aiden
Classic Songwriter - Placebo
Spirit Of Independence - Prodigy
Kerrang! Hall Of Fame - Slayer
Kerrang! Legend - Angus Young
