The Sun has reported that Pete Doherty and Carl Barat - the songwriting core of The Libertines before said band broke up - have begun writing together again.
The tabloid says that the pair have been offered deals by B-Unique Records, and that they've already recorded vocals for a cover of 'Janie Jones', originally penned by The Clash.
The cover version is expected to be released later this year in support of Strummerville, a charity set up after the death of The Clash's singer Joe Strummer.
Babyshambles - Doherty's current band - performed at Get Loaded In The Park (on Clapham Common, London) at the weekend, their sole festival performance since the vocalist went into rehab at The Priory. Beside their own songs in the setlist was a cover of Lily Allen's 'Smile'.
In related news, word on the web is that Babyshambles have signed a million-quid multi-album deal with Parlophone after parting company with Rough Trade.
